In Trujillo, cradle of conquerors and artists, the final point of Holy Week east put by the popular festivity of Chíviri, Sunday of Resurrection or also called Sunday of Passover.
This day of festival starts at 12 hours of the morning in the Great Place where meet the neighbours and of made people of the entire sector to dance with the sound of famous Chíviri. This song celebrates which gives name to this festival is to sing many and many times by all the people brought together on the spot: Ay! Chíviri, chiviri, chiviri, Ay! Chíviri, chiviri, chón.
The trujillanos and trujillanas block the Greater Seat, disguised with the regional colourist combination and the typical red handkerchief with the collar. During two or three hours they sing and dance by forming circles at the rate/rhythm of Chíviri or others traditional songs they are accompanied by the one who play the tambourine.
In this festival one can taste and share good wine, and all the products of the Matanza (sacrifice of the pork).
The posterior day, Monday, the traditional romería with low kilometres of Trujillo takes place. All the trujillanos meet here to taste typical fried lamb and sugar refineries, as the "hornazos" (it is a fritter of flour of corn mixed with olive oil, which is accompanied by chorizo and cooked eggs) and the breads "dormíos".
This interesting festivity was declared of tourist interest by the Parliament of Extremadura. |
