PALATE AND HOUSE SEIGNIORS OF PLASENCIA.

Of left to right. House of the Dean with its famous balcony of corner. Palace of Monroy (S.XIII). Main facade of the episcopal palace.

Noble and satately city.

The town of Plasencia counts in its old helmet with one varied range noble houses and palate, which they reflect the splendour of last times. However, with to be founded, the statutory prevention dictated by Alfonso VIII, by which one limited the construction of palate to that of the King and to that of the Bishop, appeared little to determine its urban development. Although, in practice, in this same century, the construction of palate was already an exhibitor of the nobles from Plasencia.

While following the diagram of the medieval city, the walled enclosure is organized in a radial way, where streets, in much of case narrow and sinuous, convergent in the same point, the larger Place, the centre of the political and social life of the city. Thus him it testifies the Municipal Palate, with a beautiful frontage structured in two bodies, the inferior is trained beautiful by porch, and the superior an open gallery. Complete the frontage two turns, it is here where the figure of the "Mayorga" chairs, on the bell-tower, the life of the city.

As from century XVI one imposes a greater logic of the sketch, by adapting his construction to the clean parameters of the Renaissance time. Open spaces perceive singular importance, especially in these places where the spectator can recreate his sight in front of the most significant buildings. Thus, the place of the cathedral changes the centre of various buildings religious and civil, like the Episcopal Palate, of clear Renaissance style, although the first data which we have of him go up at century XV. Its interior structure is faded in multiple occasions by the various reforms concluded by its residents, being the bishop gift Gonzalez Las that which provides him, in century XVIII, its current state. Its posterior frontage is raised on the wall, is of colonial style. In the interior, a court framed by large arcs Rebirth of double stage, in the centre of which, one lays out a source with the escudo of the bishop Lobera and Tours.

Another characteristic zone is found in the Place of San Nicolas, where the Palate of Marquises de Mirabel of clear Renaissance style, is an invaluable example of what is which the houses señoriales century XVI was. Its origins are medieval, test of that is the door of announced arc that there is in the orchard. Of special interest is the Renaissance balcony, like small gate which in its higher part places the blazon of its manufacturers (Zúñiga Sotomayor and Guzmán Ayala), on a gun which communicates the two sides of the palate. The palate, had small an addition, at the end of century XVI, it acts of a beautiful hanging garden or "pensil" in a secondary court. Not very far from here, the residence older than the city, the Palate of Monroy or the House of the Two Turns, of which it preserves only one. In spite of its multiple reforms it continues to preserve its gate tardorrománica flanked by two of Leon. In this house one lodged characters as important as King Fernando, the Catholic or San Pedro d' Alcántara. The Almaraz

Palate or house of Grijalva is a building with frontage of style herreriano, built at the end of century XVII.

In addition to these palates, we will make mention at other houses seigniors which are also, of a great interest so much historical, like artistic.

Located close to the cathedral, the House of Deán, called thus to put forward, by a certain time with the Deanes of the cathedral. It acts of a beautiful palate, of with half of century XVII. Most interesting are its two frontages of sillares, in which they are open useless which provide to all the structure rate/rhythm and harmony of special beauty is the balcony of corner, crowned by a great escudo of Paniagua-Loaisa. The grid is of wrought iron, a clear example of the good forging mill which was carried out in Spain at that time.

Contiguous with that previously quoted, one finds the House of Doctor Trujillo, currently Law courts. In their factory of seats, one combines with the perfection elements fine Gothic script, with other Rebirth. Underline its gallery open in the centre the same frontage. To the character from the palace, one adds the aspect of defence who provides him the tower who is raised in one on his sides.

The House of Carvajales Girón, rebirth with a certain Florentine influence. Frontage worked with fine seats stuffed and decorated with wrought iron balconies. Continuously in our course, very close to the known as palate of Almaraz, one finds the House of Infants, remarkable Renaissance building, of century XVI. The lower part of the frontage with sillares stuffed and traditional columns in the superior.

Towards the east of the walled enclosure, concretely in the street of the King, the House of the Circles is located, which to weigh, of the continuous reforms, continuous to preserve the escudos and vain Renaissance.
