It is probable that this sector is not precisely known of the Community of Extremadura, although that gradually will change. The reasons are multiple by which its visit is much advised. It leaves that we show you some of them.

But before revealing its resources we must especially make mention with their situation. It is, without any doubt, the perfect place since where to visit any Extremadura. Montánchez mountain and of Tamuja is in the physical centre of Extremadura, in its heart (from there drift its currency: Extremadura since the heart). The sector which includes/understands is laid out in the form of triangle invested in the lower top which one would find the city Roman of Mérida and in the two superiors the thousand-year-old cities of Cáceres (on the left) and Trujillo (on the right). We probably speak about the three cities more monumental than Extremadura (always with authorization of the beautiful town of Plasencia, from which is hardly distant 60 minutes), two of them, Cáceres and Mérida, declared inheritance of humanity.

But there does not remain the thing there, for the lovers of natural spaces, since here we have "with shooting" the principal reserves and zones ZEPA (protection of birds) of the Community. Practically in the same zone one finds the Natural reserve of Cornalvo, fifty minutes in north us it awaits the Natural reserve of Monfragüe (ship normalizes natural zones in the area), and a distance similar but to this time in Western and North-western direction, respectively, we will be able to visit the Mountain of San Pedro or Rubbers of Ramiro. Including "the Throat of Hell", in the valley of Jerte, it does not remain far; we will arrive there in roughly 90 minutes.

We will be able to devote another day to approach us to see the dolmens Valence of Alcántara (70 minutes in the West), or impressing it Roman bridge of Alcántara (60 minutes in the North-West). And why not make a visit to the splendid monastery of Guadalupe (60 minutes in the East) or the Vostell museum in Malpartida de Cáceres (at 15 minutes of the town of Cáceres. It contains the largest existing collection in the world of the movements happening and fluxes). As one can check this zone it is "strategic". Moreover, by it passes the Roman road made famous of the money and almost in parallel passes the Santiago way of Mozarab peregrination. They are much the pilgrims who make this way every year, this why some rural houses of the zone render a special service to them.

The sector of Montánchez Mountain and Tamuja extends its territory by will penillanura trujillano-cacereña and the buttresses of the mountains of Toledo, by the mountains of Montánchez, San Cristóbal, Caoutchouc White, Sentinels, etc... It is a territory of singular attracting precisely by the large landscapes variety and enormous physical contrasts which it offers to the visitor. Ground of Mountains with top alomadas, halts pináculos, enormous of level, vast pastures and beautiful splits. An original physical chart where they coexist and integrate nature and it I palpitate quiet clean of the rural world. Proliferate here also fauna and the flora most representative and appreciated Mediterranean mountain, unaltered still thanks to the wide use which is made territory and with figures protection and conservation like the ZEPA, in what is of level of Cáceres.

If we approach in Zarza of Montánchez, we will be able to find a specimen splendid of "quercus rotundifolia", considered the larger and old oak of the world, and called "Terrona". In the locality of Alcuéscar we will have an occasion to visit their Basilica (century VII), one of the best exhibitors of architecture hispanovisigode of all the Iberian Peninsula. And for which beautiful sights like, nothing better than to approach with the people Montánchez with to which it is known like the "Watchtower of Extremadura". Since their castle one dominates of the rough territories of the area.

Montánchez is precisely also cradle of good hams. As those included/understood count the special climate of the sector linked with its height they make that inlays of this zone perceive an exquisite flavour and savour. It was always known as here, "the Ham of Montánchez is best world".

This sector has to offer much. There is much to see it and much that to visit.
