Pacense commune is located in the zone south occidental of the Southern Mountain, between dense pastures. Jerez was distinguished traditionally by the production and quality from Iberian pork. It is the centre of Ham of Black Leg. But Jerez also has the abundant remainders archaeological:
- The core Phoenician of the serious one.
- The Roman fame lulia.
- A core Visigoth.
- Arab Population of Xerixa.
- Many dolmens and anthropomorphic tombs.
The core was populated and was pacified in Christian time by the Order of Time. When Templar dissolved, Jerez passed by a series of vicissitudes, until belonging finally to the Santiago Order, while equalizing in importance with Llerena, and receiving the title of city granted by Carlos I.
As for its richness monumental, Joint Historical Artistic, it is thus declared in 1966, incomparable in the south of Extremadura.
Jerez is picturesque in the style of its narrow streets and large outstanding and especially in its monuments, which are numerous and beautiful: convents, hermitages, sources, palate, etc, but especially by their whole of Turns Baroques, which is those give fame in Jerez. Jerez is formed by two hills, one in which one finds the Castle and the Church of Sta. Maria of the Incarnation and another in one finds the Church of San Bartolomé.
Between a zone and another it is the medieval city encircled by a wall of the time. This wall has many towers and doors, as the Door of City and that of San Antoñito which are still preserved.
The Church of Sta. Catalina was subsequently built and extras wall.
Jerez is also famous for its Holy Week, declared festivity of regional tourist interest of Extremadura. During this time the days, the nights and the paddles one fills to overflow visitors attracted by the popular devotion of these festivities. Resound in theirs inclined streets of white houses the drums, the bugles and the throats of what are cantaores and cantaoras of saetas.
