The Carnival of Badajoz goes up centuries behind, concretely about 1815. Although its festival suffered the tops and low throughout times, while managing to be interdict during the dictatorship, resurge with a great force in 1980. Starting from this date the Carnival went each year has more, while changing, currently, in the more important festivity of Badajoz, and in one of the three best carnivals of Spain.

The beginning of these festivities begins the day of the Candles with two very significant acts: "Cremation of Marimanta" and the "Tamborada".
